The latest wave of Suzuki’s automobile ads are silly. They’re trying to sell their economy cars to Americans by reminding everyone that they make motorcycles. I do understand this attempt on their part to gain some market share, as their brand is not very strong in the American auto market, but their motorcycles seem to have been accepted long ago. Ironically, they seem to be trying to depict their bikes as a Harley replacement. Here’s a news flash: you’ll have a hard time selling an economy car to a biker. You typical “Harley” biker probably doesn’t want an economy car, and your typical economy car customer probably doesn’t want anything to do with bikers, either. I believe these ads are a failure. Too bad, because I actually like the Suzuki brand, and it seems that they’re just beginning to gain acceptance as an automobile manufacturer in America. Not that I think these ads will hurt them in any way, I just don’t feel that it is an effective marketing strategy. Since I couldn’t find a video of their latest ads, I dug up one of their really old ads and put it down below. Micheal Jackson- his message is love? That’s kinda creepy now. But that’s another post altogether. Enjoy.
