I recently finished playing the platform game Psychonauts. I’ve been wanting to play it for some time, mostly due to word of mouth about it being a good game. Until recently, I’ve been passing it over for newer games, reluctant to shell out my hard earned cash for such an odd looking title. Fortunately, gametap has it for free as of this moment, so I took advantage of that fact and tried out this game.
I was instantly drawn in to the colorful world that Psychonauts has to offer. For the most part, the game isn’t terribly difficult (until you get near the end). The levels are very well designed, and the game offers up many memorable moments. It also gives you good incentive to collect stuff- pretty much every item in the game helps you level up, and leveling up leads to new powers for your character. Plus, the story isn’t bad, either.
I found the graphics to be acceptable, but I wasn’t blown away. This title is a few years old after all.
