I spend a lot of time watching shows that have to do with homes and renovations because I so enjoy renovating and redoing my own home. Property Brothers is no different. The show is about two brothers who are great at seeing the potential in a possibly run down looking home and turning it in to a gorgeous property. Usually they will take a couple or person who is looking to purchase a house to a property that has absolutely everything they want in a home. The couple will of course fall completely in love with the home and then the brothers will drop the price tag on the couple which of course shatters all their hopes and dreams about owning the perfect home. They do all this to show people that usually what they want is above their price point unless they are willing to put in a little work to make a less than desirable house into the home of their dreams. I swear, I used to think I knew it all. Now, when faced with the prospect of a new activity… I find myself flabbergasted. Buying a new item? This warrants at least five hours of research! If there are any conflicting reviews, pick a new product, start from scratch. My CD burner died. I usually just buy a cheap-o whatever and I’m done with it. This time, I decided I wanted a blu-ray burner. Went, bought one, it didn’t work, brought it back… that was a week ago, I still don’t have a burner. It took me two weeks to pick/buy a car stereo.

I might have been a little late to the game on the How I Met your Mother craze, but I’ve caught up on reruns every weeknight on Expert Satellite. I definitely see what all the fuss is about. Barney might be one of my favorite characters on TV. He is undeniably self-absorbed and borderline terrible actually, but I love him. I’d kind of like to be friends with him in real life, as a matter of fact. He completely disregards anyone else’s feelings, is concerned only with his own interests, and is shameless in his selfishness. And yet somehow he is likable. I’m still not sure how that works. Lily is the polar opposite of Barney. She’s a kindergarten teacher who is obsessed with married life, and he’s a perpetual bachelor obsessed with…being a perpetual bachelor. You throw in Ted, who’s lovable and funny, Marshall, who’s completely goofy, and Robin, who’s dry and witty, and you’ve got a serious motley crew. Somehow they all get along perfectly. It’s a miracle of modern television.
