Home Security

Posted in Uncategorized on April 7th, 2012 by admin – Comments Off

I’ve been thinking a bit about personal security and home security lately. Times are hard and the seedy underbelly of society is showing itself. These are the times when one needs to develop a protective shell.

I’ve been thinking about wrought iron window covers and home security alarms. I’ve also been thinking about keeping some stuff in a storage unit.

Well, you know what I say? Worrying works; 90% of the stuff I worry about never happens.

Text Spam

I found myself in one of those “durned if you do, durned if you don’t” type of situations…

I sell stuff on craigslist. Spammers have started to use the numbers in craigs, and texting people. At first, I thought it would be funny to text back “You’ve just signed up for cat facts!” (google it for the rest). But I realize that the texts are probably coming from a computer, not sent by hand. If I obscure my phone number or put it in a pic, then people will think I’m being shady (trying to keep them from searching for my other listings). So, I just have to put up with the occasional spam text, I suppose.

After a trip to Google, I found out that I can report spam through my service provider…but it’s a bit of a hassle.

Getting a Pool

Posted in Uncategorized on April 7th, 2012 by admin – Comments Off

I appreciate the guest post, Jewel Rodgers

We recently moved from a neighborhood that had a community pool to a place out in the country. My wife has been on me for the past year to get one. Last summer was so hot and she could not stand, not being able to go to the pool whenever she wanted. If this summer is just as hot I will be especially thankful for Texas Electricity Providers and the money I save. I think that I am going to go ahead and bite the bullet and get my wife a pool. Having a pool sounds like fun but listening to my father sometimes they can be a hassle. We had a pool in our backyard growing up and I remember my father spending countless hours working on it. Before you can open the pool you have to shock it, which means add chlorine to kill the bacteria. After you get the levels where they need to be, you have to constantly monitor it and make sure the levels don’t get out of whack.
