Bad Commercials

I recently discovered that there is now liposuction in a bottle. The drug companies market them as “thermogenic fat-burners“. If you don’t want to do the work but still get skinny you can a) pay for plastic surgery, b) Smoke alot of crack, or c) buy some pills. Its amazing to me how commerical drugs have become. Not only “street” drgus, but Pharmaceutical drugs. I can hardly turn on my television during “day-time” tv without seeing one pill or another either for heart disease, erectile dysfunction, weight loss or depression. Part of me should probably feel offended that the advertisers of these products feel that anyone who stays home during the day has a bad heart, can’t get it up, is fat and cant deal with it all so has depression too.

Now, I do understand that every one of these companies has people working for them that need to feed thier families. I’m not against that. I am against showing commercials for sex/dating phone lines, KY cream and other things involving sex being shown to our children durning their saturday morning cartoons. They won’t let companies advertise cigarettes anymore on TV because they felt that it was influancing kids to smoke. Why do they not think on the same principal that they are being influanced into over the counter drugs and sex by these new commercials?

I think that everyone has just quit trying to fight it so much. Sad but true, I’m starting to believe that “American Family Values” truly died in the 1950′s.
